Member initiatives

OSCG members are encouraged to initiate and organize workshops, hack-a-thons, brainstorm sessions, informal get-togethers on Open Science related topics by joining one of the existing working groups or start a new one.

Existing working groups

Below you will find the existing working groups, and the OSCG members that are active in this groups. If you would like to join, please send an email to info@openscience-groningen.nl!

  1. ReproTea

    Description:
    The idea is to have regular meetings on any reproducibility related topic, from discussing bias in the literature, a work-session on preprints/preregistrations or a workshop on r-markdown or GitHub. What the contents will be exactly is to be decided by us all and will change from meeting to meeting.

  2. Open Science Teaching/ Curriculum

    Description:
    We are taking stock of the current attention for Open Science related topics within the BSS faculty, starting with the BSS Research Master tracks, with the aim to write a report with recommendations on how to improve Open Science in the UG curricula.

  3. Preregistration

    Description:
    Starting November 3 2020, we organize information lectures and bi-monthly Q&A’s and general info sessions on pre-registration on a structural basis.

    Description:
    Starting Oct 2019, we keep the OSCG website up-to-date.

  5. OSCG Social media

    Starting Oct 2019, we communicate all OSCG news and updates via Twitter.

  6. OSCG Newsletter

    Description:
    Starting Oct 2019, we send around a bi-monthly OSCG newsletter with all the latest updates and news on Open Science.

Start a new working group!

Does none of the above described group fit your interests? Or do you have an idea for a new member initiative? Great! Than you are ready to email your idea to info@openscience-groningen.nl, and start your own OSCG working group!

The chair of each working group will be asked to report on developments during the bi-monthly OSCG meetings, or ask for help.

All OSCG member initiatives should meet the following criteria:

  1. Related to Open Science
  2. Initiated by (an) OSCG member(s)
  3. Open for participation to anyone interested (e.g., an Open Science event)
  4. Adheres to the OSCG Code of Conduct
